Jami Sloan – Winner of ICA Emerging Leader Scholarship to the 2015 Car Wash Show

   Jami Sloan is an example of leadership that “breaks the mold”. It’s easy to see why she is one of five individuals selected by the International Carwash Association for this year’s Emerging Leader  Scholarship award.

   Working in a STEM job where the average chemist is 50 years old and over 60% of the time male, Jami is a 34 year old woman committed to manufacturing car wash products that perform and are safe for our environment. She holds an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and a masters degree in Integrated Biosciences. Jami might be the only woman in charge of the chemical department of a car wash chemical manufacturer.  She earned that position by her hard work, exceptional technical skills and knowledge, and most importantly for Ver-tech Labs, bringing innovative ideas to make our products better.

   This past year Jami began work and completed the formulation of Ver-tech Labs’ new XV Line of true concentrates. Phenomenal work to complete every product that might be required in a tunnel conveyor wash. She was involved in all steps from selection of raw materials, manufacturing instructions, field testing product performance and product refinement. In addition to formulating the XV Line products, she has become an expert in detergent chemistry for water reclamation systems.

   One of Jami’s greatest assets is her ability to work with our customers and sales reps. Unlike most chemists, Jami is not afraid to work to get her hands dirty with our sales force. She has increased opportunities for dialog, works in the field regularly with the sales representatives and provides the sales team and customers with substantial, yet easy to understand, technical information. She has provided us with improved tools to monitor chemical performance, media to show customers the science behind the products and has improved and computerized our quality control system to ensure Ver-tech Labs delivers consistent, high performance products.

   At Ver-tech Labs, you will find transformational leaders, like Jami, in our sales team and production staff. We believe our chemists’ work is beyond the lab.
