Some operators try to solve reclaim odor problems by adding bleach or other harsh additives, although these can be a quick fix (or a band-aid), they can often create new problems.
Bleach doesn’t discriminate:
- Bleach kills the bad bacteria that produces odors, but it also kills the good bacteria that can help break down organic type materials
- By removing both bacteria, the biological balance leads to more sludge, worse odors, and cloudy-dirty water
