Ver-tech Labs values employee health because we know a healthy employee has more energy and a higher lever of self-confidence. Encouraging our employees to follow a daily fitness routine pays off in numerous ways. We want our employees to enjoy their work environment and bring their best self to work each day. This summer, employees can participate in our company “All-American Step Challenge.” Employees will be given a simple pedometer and can choose from three different step challenge programs based on their current level of fitness. Prizes will be awarded upon completion of the eight-week challenge.

Walking is one of the most beneficial exercises for your body, so we’re challenging our employees to walk more. Worldwide, the average person walks 9,000 steps a day, but the average American walks just over 5,000 steps a day. Statistics show that walking 10,000 steps a day reduces the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, and only 12,000+ steps a day results in sustained weight loss. The benefits of walking are infinite – we want our employees to reap the benefits of being able to do more, longer.

CEO Tony Vertin is excited about this health and wellness initiative. “It is important to me that everyone be as healthy as possible. After our winter health initiative, it was very rewarding to listen to the stories of how employees lost weight and the effect weight loss had on their lives. I’m looking forward to seeing even more positive changes in the Ver-tech Labs employees who take the Step Challenge.”
